With 2,000 winemakers and around 2,400 hectares under cultivation, it is one of the largest consortia in Italy. Established in 2013, the Consorzio Pignoletto Emilia-Romagna adopted the name Consorzio Emilia-Romagna in 2024, upholding its commitment to protecting, safeguarding and promoting the increasingly popular Pignoletto wine, which unites the region’s two souls. The unifying element between the regions of Emilia and Romagna, Pignoletto is the only DOC wine produced in Emilia-Romagna, with a production area that extends from Modena to Faenza. The Consorzio Emilia-Romagna has its headquarters in the prestigious Villa Edvige Garagnani in Zola Predosa, in the province of Bologna. The Consortium’s mission is to promote and develop the production of more than 15 million bottles of Pignoletto (source: 2023 vintage), 90% of which are sparkling (frizzante and spumante) wines.
After several years of fruitful collaboration, from January 2025 the Consorzio Vini Colli Bolognesi has begun merging with the Consorzio Emilia-Romagna, which will oversee the new Emilia-Romagna DOC as well as historical designations such as Colli Bolognesi DOC and Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto DOCG.
